What is not Poker Psychology

Having looked at what is Poker Psychology, we can now look at what is not; when talking about poker, people immediately imagine that to be a good player, one has to be able to read other people’s mind and they refer to this as Poker Psychology. Nothing could be further from the truth. Reading minds is a skill that can be learnt, and it is not a psychological trait. And to go further, in poker, the ability to read, or discern patterns of play is what is necessary, rather than mind reading.

So where does the psychology come in? Well it is and added bonus to the skills a player already has; observing the behavior of an opponent alone is not enough, but if it is complemented with the understanding of his way of playing, or of the pattern of his play, then there is a solid, strong weapon.

These are the sorts of tips that legendary Doyle Brunson can explain to you in far better detail if you join him on his site doylespokerroom.com; not only can you play with the man himself but he can also give you private tuition, show you some tricks, teach you new skills and discuss further what is and what isn’t poker psychology. Doylespokerroom.com is the star of all poker rooms.

Online Gambling legalized in Italy

Italy, where casinos, “little houses”, first appeared, has kept a close relationship with the gambling world. Indeed the two go together hand in hand and always will. It is not such a big surprise then that the country has started the formalities to move forward the regulations of the online gambling industry. It is now official, as from January 1st 2007 Italians will be able to gamble online legally. The law will also be dealing with public sports betting places. It has been greatly influenced it seems by the way UK fixed the problem. When doing business with Italian customers, the government will take 3% tax of the company’s revenues. This is not such a bad deal and it seems that it’s pretty much the way things are going around the world, seeing that in England, the system so far is very satisfactory.

So what about the US? The senate has failed in trying to pass the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act and sessions of congress are not very enthusiastic as far as complex issues like this one are concerned.

This is excellent news for the online gambling business; doylespokerroom.com, already a highly reputable and successful online poker site, is very excited about the outcome of things. Doylespokerroom.com is endorsed by Doyle Brunson and enjoys a fast growing popularity; it is the site where gamblers can share a game or two with the legendary poker star. It has a complete array of poker games and tournaments, including games like Badugi, which are hard to find. Doylespokerroom.com offers over $ 4,000.000 in prizes monthly.

Can Teenagers be allowed to play poker?

Time Magazine has issued an article related to the question of teenagers playing Poker. It tells of the story of parents encouraging their teenage son to play poker for money, thus he can learn about interpersonal values, mathematics, and how to use his logic skills and his sense of observation. Besides this, his parents feel that he is safe and sound while they know where he is and what he is up to, when he could be up to a lot worse than that! They claim to have been influenced by the famous Poker book written in 1944 by John Von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern, “Theory of Games and Economic Behavior”. The book points at the fact that a game of poker works in a parallel way to the way we have to work our way through life.
There are of course negative sides, as in everything else in life, and the case of a teenager robbing a bank to pay his gambling debt is far from reassuring.

Online Poker has made the game available to the public and it can be a concern for many parents. Reputable sites like Doylespokerroom.com make sure that the players are all adults and are treating this issue with all the seriousness it demands. Doylespokerroom.com is endorsed by Doyle Brunson, legendary player and tutor. It is without a doubt one of the fastest growing site of the moment.

Texas Hold'em talk of the day in Oregon

Texas Hold’em is the talk of the day as apparently the game has been played for small stakes in some bars of Eugene, Oregon. The city’s 21 year old rules regarding social gaming are very inadequate and outdated as the way we see poker today and the way it is played as gone through many changes, and nobody is sure of its legal status anymore. Officials of Eugene are working on it and a new proposal which would allow small stakes and more control over how much the houses are making could be the ideal solution. Some places have actually closed down, unsure of what to do, not knowing if they have stepped outside of the law or not. Indeed many establishments may have been breaking the law.
Online Poker has been gaining popularity on a daily basis these last few years, allowing people to play poker from home without any risks or hassle. Poker Psychology

What is Poker Psychology? Perhaps it is best to start by establishing what is psychology itself? “Psychology is an academic and applied field involving the study of the human mind, brain and behavior” .

In Poker psychology, a player will hide or mask, and even pass on false information in the way of a certain mode of behavior, thus the opponent is misguided. While this is going on, the players are also trying to read each others mind, while pretending that this is not going on. Body language has also got to be controlled as a good player will know how to interpret it very well. What makes a human personality and determines its behavior is the field psychology, a compilation of reactions of the brain, mind and body, and these are what poker players read and interpret.

Doyle Brunson is a master in this field. His site doylespokerroom.com offers a wide array of tuition, games and tournament. If you want to play like the pros, join doylespokerrom.com, it is only a click away.

Poker is all it needs sometimes, the little helper which can make your dream come true, and change your life forever. British film director Nick Scott could not agree more; he has just made a short film already receiving well deserved praises in the industry. What makes the film so special is not even the story line itself, but the fact that Scott was able to finance the making of the film because he won an online poker tournament. There are so many stories of this kind around us. Doyle Brunson, the creator of the doylespokerroom.com, could tell you a few of them. The man himself is there online giving avid players the tuition and tips they need, always ready to help those willing to learn. Online Poker getting physical

Just when everyone thought they knew everything about Online Poker, a new invention has just popped up. It gives the online players the sensation that they are physically interacting with real players in a real casino. Sounds a little it unbelievable? No need to say that the whole process involves some rather sophisticated technology, incomprehensible to us common mortals. Apparently some chips are embedded in the casino poker cards, enabling a broadband connection so powerful and precise that the online players will be able to feel the cards as if they were sitting there with the other player in the actual casino. The online players will really be able to participate in the game, with the sensation of being there, touching the gaming table, interacting with the other players, the croupier, the chips, the cards, the whole data is simply passed on to the remote players. The remote players can also make decisions which are passed on to the real players of the real casino. This is a remarkable discovery which of course can be used for a multitude of purposes, but it certainly does transport online poker to another level. We at Doylespokerroom.com are very interest in this new development. This is going to rocket us to the sky, and Doylespokerroom.com, already outstanding thanks to Doyle Brunson’s genius, promises to bring more entertainment and fun in the very near future.

Students can now learn Texas Holdem poker in city course

The game that has invaded the television airwaves and has made ordinary Joes into millionaires through events like the World Series of Poker will be tought for just $45 in a city course.

Due to poker is becoming a more mainstream activity, Lawrences Parks and Recreation Department will begin offering its first class on how to play Texas Holdem poker. Amount of women playing poker may surprise you

Online or at a casino, more and more women are playing poker nowadays. According to new studies, nearly 30 percent of online players are female and the number of women in the Ladies World Series of Poker is up 400 percent.

Thirty years ago, things were different, said Barbara Enright, who was a former hairdresser who became a professional poker player. Taking a seat next to the boys used to make me downright queasy. I was so intimidated when I sat down in the game," she said.

Her advice to women in a man's world is to take chances and past your comfort zone. Today, Enright keeps her competition studying her opponents and takes notes on their betting patterns.

I plan how I'm going to play the hand before I even get the cards. She said. In poker as in life you have to stay focused, talk less, listen more and never get emotional. A mistake Enright calls a man-thing. If men underestimate you at the poker table or in the boardroom use it to your advantage, and you'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Barbara says trust your intuition. She says your first instinct is usually your best bet. Whether it's online in tournaments as the one offered by DoylesPokerRoom.com - the only poker room endorsed by the legendary Doyle Brunson, or in a casino or your neighbor's living room, women are going crazy for poker.

Increase in Poker Controversy

While lawmakers are working to establish rules to govern Internet gambling in the United States and are discussing its future, its no stopping the millions of Americans who play online poker each moth.

Evidence offers a proof that the increase in Poker has generated tens of billions of dollars and there is no doubt that Internet is responsible for most of the growth. In 2005 alone, according to the Media & Entertainment Consulting Network, the number of people playing Internet poker each month more than tripled between January (1.7 million) and December (5.4 million).

And a new study suggests that poker online, if properly regulated and taxed, could net the federal government $3.3 billion each year. So, internet poker's explosion in popularity merits serious consideration.

Along with online poker's increase in popularity comes a greater variety of opportunities. Players have now a multitude of choices when it comes to poker-playing sites. However, not all of them are reliable; poker players have to find out where the best places are to play, and where to stay away from.

Fortunately, for those players who are unwilling to risk their money, there are sites out there that guide them to find a friendly and secure environment where they can play, such as the one offered by DoylesPokerRoom.com - the only poker room endorsed by the legendary Doyle Brunson. In this site your game play is guaranteed to be challenging, secure, and most of all, fun.

A great game has been allowed to flourish

Online poker has seen a windfall of popularity and, despite legal questions swirling around the industry; online poker continues to find enthusiasm from players around the world. But, what are the biggest reasons for the boom in online poker popularity?

First thing is that now poker enthusiast can play poker online having full control over when they play and when they stop playing, and when they go out they can simply start another game. So, you dont have to wait until you get some folks together before you can play.

Second of all, something that doesnt happen online is that when you are playing with your friends and when it starts getting late people start dropping off to go home, which leaves little enough people to play, until within a few hours the game is already over.

Sometimes even more frustrating when not playing online is that if you go all in and go out early in a game you have to sit and watch your friends play for maybe an hour or more.

The only difficult part about making the progression into the online world of poker is finding out where the best places are to play, and where to stay away from. However, to know where the best places to play, and the places to stay away from, there are sites out there to help the online poker beginner. One good site to play is the one sponsored by the legendary Doyle Brunson.

Because of the features added by the power of the internet, and by the great service offered by online poker sites a great game has been allowed to flourish.

First it was poker... Getting to the root

As the American frontier pushed westward, card games went right along with it. With little in the way of escape from the hard realities of those days, the pioneers entertained themselves with card games in every town across the country.

Card games were played around campfires, in bunkhouses, in saloons and on riverboats. Descending from the Spanish card game "Primero" and influenced by the French "Poque", poker as we know it took hold around 1850 with the introduction of the 52-card deck.

During that time to be a gambler was to be a gunslinger. Notorious outlaws would shoot a man dead over a card game as easily as throwing back a shot of whiskey. It is said that numerous men were killed in disagreements about who'd won a pot.

It was pokers rough and tumbles beginnings in the American West that gave rise to its reign today as the world's most popular card game. Considered the patriarch of modern poker and the person most responsible for its rise from smoky backrooms to the pop-culture spotlight was the leader of Texas Rounders Doyle Brunson.

Doyle in the words of The History Channel "cleaned Texas dry" playing high-stakes poker in the 1950s and '60s. Then, he eventually landed in Las Vegas where audiences would gather in awe to watch him lay. Today, at the ripe young age of 72, he continues to play at the elite level. In 2005, he won both his record 10th WSOP bracelet and hundreds of thousands more in tournament play.

Living a dream at World Series of Poker

Clapper, 21, a 2004 Washington High graduate, didnt win the $12 million first prize, but Massillon resident said he had the time of his life last month while competing in the World Series of Poker main event in Las Vegas.

He said hes been playing poker for the past 18 months seriously. Ive been quick to learn it, Clapper said. Ive consistently won tournaments and played more online. Clapper said he initially put up $50 online and has since earned over $10,000 in winnings.

Clapper clinched a spot in the field of the WSOP by winning a large pot by going all-in, which means risking his entire chip stack on a single bet. I was nervous but my opponent was overly aggressive, he said. The whole tournament lasted nearly eight hours. Some friends came over near the end of the tournament. We were all huddled around the computer. It was really exciting.

For qualifying, Clapper won $1,000 for travel and expenses as well as a nine-night hotel stay. Playing in the main event was the greatest experience of my life, he said. Everywhere you looked, you saw players and celebrities. My game really went to a new level.

After he was knocked out of the tournament, Clapper continued to play in side games. Now, Clapper is still playing online every day, trying to qualify for World Poker Tour events at Niagara Falls in October and the Bahamas in January.

Man goes all in for poker hobby

Just over a month ago, the North Lebanon Township man found himself sitting at a poker table in Las Vegas. But this wasnt an average poker tournament. The 40-year-old father of two had just had his first taste of the World Series of Poker, the biggest poker tournament on the planet.

Like many amateur poker players, Boehler, got hooked on the game after watching Chris Moneymaker wins the World Series of Poker three years ago. Moneymaker, who found his way into the tournament by playing poker on the Internet, became an instant celebrity when his win was televised on ESPN. I thought, If he can do it, anybody can do it, Boehler said.

So, Boehler began playing on various poker Web sites. As he learned, he started entering online tournaments, occasionally placing high enough to earn seats at bigger online tournaments, where players could qualify for the World Series.

His journey to the World Series started just like any other of the many tournaments in which Boehler played. After some hours in front of his computer, Boehler realized a trip to the WSOP could be a reality. Boehler made the cut, and on Saturday, July 29, he found himself sitting in the middle of 2,200 hopeful poker players in a Las Vegas casino on that first day.

It was amazing, he said. Everyone Ive ever watched play on TV I met in person. Boehler finished about 1,700th of 8,800 players. Despite the loss, which he said he still thinks about every day, Boehler loved the experience. He said he is continuing to play poker online in hopes of winning seats to future tournaments.

West High grad wins nearly $1.6 million

Some of the biggest names in poker were at the final table on Wednesday in one of the major tournaments on the World Poker Tour. They were there to win the 2006 Legends of Poker championship at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, Calif. Most of them with millions in winnings in their bank accounts.

Then there was Pelton, a 29-year-old business systems analyst for an insurance company from Newport Beach, Calif., with less than $23,000 in winnings from eight WPT tournaments in three years.

But, Pelton wasn't intimidated playing with them. He felt that he had advantage because he knew how they played but they didn’t know him. This let him win the nearly $1.6 million first prize along with $25,000 seat for the upcoming WPT championship.

Now, no longer the former Waterloo resident will be able to sit down at a poker table and play in relative obscurity. But, in the mean time, Pelton is savoring his victory. "It feels pretty good. It took a half-hour to get it deposited," Pelton said.

Pelton, who left Waterloo after graduation to study engineering at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, Calif, started playing with relatively small pots, with friends at college and then he eventually started playing poker on the Internet. Top prizes for many online tournaments happen to be the entry fees and transportation costs to major tournaments for this new poker champion.
