Online Poker Ban

The federal government is trying to control what you use your hard earned money for. This proposed bill for anti-internet gaming (bill H.R. 4411), also conveniently leaves out horse racing, and lotteries-so it would be okay to gamble online on horse racing but online poker will get banned. Their sights are set on internet gaming specifically and even within the bill, there is wording to prosecute online gamblers.

According to a recent big Wall Street Journal Poll, 85% of US citizens polled were against a Congressional ban on online gambling maybe Congress should listen to the public and should become a co-sponsor of H.R. 5474 instead. This bill requires Congress to objectively examine how Internet gambling can be regulated and taxed rather than driven underground.

Poker tournament held for fall victim

Family friends of the Penn State student who was seriously injured after he fell from a second-floor balcony in March may soon go home to continue rehabilitation. Wincek, 20, is currently at the McGee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia recovering from the fall, several friends said.

One half of the proceeds of the Texas Hold'em poker tournament held at 6 p.m. yesterday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 850 Stratford Drive, will go into a trust fund for Wincek; the other half went to the top-place winners. This is the second tournament that has been held by the Knights of Columbus to benefit Wincek. Facility Manager for the Knights of Columbus, Lionel Bassett, said the last tournament brought in about $1,600 for Wincek's trust fund -- more than $1,000 from the tournament and $600 from outside donations.

Last year's stunning victory by movie star Jennifer Tilly won't be repeated, unfortunately, as the starlet was busted out fairly early on, taking on two overcards, one of which paired, with her little wired threes. This time the event was up to Shawnee Barton and Mary Jones. A final all in move put Barton ahead with an Ace to Queen Six Jones had, but a lucky Six on the river cinched the win for Jones.
