New venues for World Poker Tour

Changes have been made to the schedule for next season's World Poker Tour (WPT), it has been announced. A total of three new events have been added to the WPT's season V calendar and other dates have changed. Players putting their money on the tour are being urged to check the new schedule on the official website. The Bellagio, the Borgata and Foxwoods are the new additions to the venue line-up and will take place in October 2006, January 2007 and April 2007 respectively.

2006 Event Should Top Last Year's Poker Series

The 2005 World Series of Poker was the event's most successful run in its history -- almost 30,000 players participated in 45 events, competing for a record prize pool of more than $103 million. In the $10,000 buy-in World Championship No-limit Texas Hold'em event, a record 5,619 players entered with all nine players at the final table winning at least $1 million. The 2006 series stands to be even bigger.

Doyle Brunson and Pamela Anderson Team Up for commercial

The biggest name in poker, Doyle Brunson, is teaming up with one of the biggest names in Hollywood for his new commercial to debut during Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The godfather of poker and Pamela Anderson heat up the television set to collaborate on a commercial together to endorse the free educational poker site, DoylesRoom.net. The commercial, featuring the buxom blonde and her “nice pair,” will air during Game 4 and continue to play through Game 7 if necessary.
