Just 6 months ago, 28 year old Adam Kagin was living in Oakland working for a financial services firm. Kagin’s luck was about to change as he embarked on becoming a professional poker player. Kagin, who recently moved from Oakland to outside Las Vegas will play in the Main Event of the World Series of Poker this week.
Last week, Kagin played in the World Series of Poker, No Limit Hold Em’ Shootout with a $2000 Buy-in. There were 600 people who started in the tournament, and Kagin finished ninth. US online poker ban would cost $3.3bn a year
US legislative moves that could make it illegal for American citizens to play online poker will deprive the government of over $3bn in federal and state revenues, it was claimed today.

A new study by the Poker Players Alliance, prepared by Judy Xanthopoulos, an economist with Quantria Strategies, noted that the US government would collect a "significant potential source of revenue" if it were to incorporate online poker into the national economy.
